System Ping agent action
This agent action performs a system ping to a target remote device from the Operations Console interface.
To access System Ping agent action
- In the Operations Console, navigate to the Show Monitors page, in the Tools Menu column of the Root Container Network Devices(ICMP) monitor, click the blue wrench icon.
- Click Agent Actions > Utilities >System Ping.
The System Ping dialog box is displayed. - Provide the following details to ping a target remote device from the BMC ProactiveNet Operations Console interface:
Field | Description |

Device name/IP | Enter the name or IP address of the device you want to ping. |
Timeout (ms) | Enter the timeout in milliseconds to wait for each reply. The default value is 1000 milliseconds. |
Retries count | Select the number of echo request messages to send. The default value is 4. |
Execute | Click this button to execute the system ping command. |
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
