Cataloging databases in the system directory
The DB2 system database directory contains database access information for all databases managed by the DB2 DBM instance. A system catalog entry is automatically created in the system directory when a DB2 database is created. You can specify a new database alias name to create a new catalog entry for a database and even maintain multiple aliases.
With PATROL for DB2 UDB, you can catalog databases (local and remote), uncatalog databases, and recatalog databases, using the procedure that follows.
- Right-click the DB2 DBM instance icon and select Database Administration > Directory Mgmt > Database.
- select one of the following commands from the submenu:
- List DB Directory
- List DCS Directory
- Catalog Database
- Catalog DCS Database
- Catalog Global Database (available only in UNIX)
- Uncatalog Database
- Uncatalog DCS Database
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
