Cataloging databases in the system directory

The DB2 system database directory contains database access information for all databases managed by the DB2 DBM instance. A system catalog entry is automatically created in the system directory when a DB2 database is created. You can specify a new database alias name to create a new catalog entry for a database and even maintain multiple aliases.

With PATROL for DB2 UDB, you can catalog databases (local and remote), uncatalog databases, and recatalog databases, using the procedure that follows.

  1. Right-click the DB2 DBM instance icon and select Database Administration > Directory Mgmt > Database.
  2. select one of the following commands from the submenu:
    • List DB Directory
    • List DCS Directory
    • Catalog Database
    • Catalog DCS Database
    • Catalog Global Database (available only in UNIX)
    • Uncatalog Database
    • Uncatalog DCS Database
