This topic contains information about the features in version 2.0.00 of the BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop Knowledge Module. BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop provides the ability to monitor your Citrix Site along with all its components. The Citrix Site includes Delivery Controllers, Delivery Groups, Published Applications, License Servers, Catalogs and Machines in the Delivery Groups.

BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop monitors Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop 7.5 and 7.6. BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop provides the following features for monitoring your environment. 

Discover all the components in the Citrix Site

After you add the initial Delivery Controller and configure a Site for monitoring, BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop automatically discovers the following components of the Site:

  • Delivery Controllers
  • Delivery Groups 
  • Machines belonging to Delivery Groups (Server OS machines or Desktop OS machines)
  • Published Applications
  • License Server
  • Machine Catalogs

Monitor Sites

At the Site level, you can monitor the number of sessions, number of active sessions, number of disconnected sessions, and overall status of KM data collection. For more information, see Citrix-Site-BTK_SITE.

Monitor Delivery Controllers

At the Controller level, you can monitor the state (Active / On / Off / Failed) of the Controller, the licensing server state, and the performance metrics of the Controller along with the overall collection status.

Monitor Delivery Groups

At the Delivery Group level, you can monitor the number of sessions, number of active sessions and the number of disconnected sessions. For more information, see Citrix-Delivery-Group-BTK_DESKTOP_GROUP.

Monitor Machines

At the Machine level, you can monitor the number of sessions, number of active sessions, number of disconnected sessions, state of the machine, load index, and the logon-enabled status. For more information, see Citrix-Machine-BTK_MACHINE.

Monitor Published Applications

At the Application level, you can monitor Published Applications to determine whether they are enabled for use and the number of running instances of that Application. For more information, see Citrix-Application-BTK_APPLICATION.

Monitor License Usage

You can monitor the available licenses and number of licenses that are currently in use.

Support for TrueSight Infrastructure Management Central Monitoring Administration

BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop version 2.0.00 is enabled for BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Central Monitoring Administration. You can configure the Citrix XenApp monitor type through Central Monitoring Administration.

Configure Citrix XenApp environment using TrueSight Infrastructure Management Central Monitoring Administration console

Version 2.0.00 of BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop and version 9.6.00 of BMC PATROL Agent allows you to configure your Citrix XenApp environment by using the Central Monitoring Administration console. This configuration controls the transfer of monitoring data from BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop to BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management. For more information, see Configuring in Central Monitoring Administration console.
