Citrix XenApp overview

Citrix XenApp is an on-demand application delivery solution that allows applications to be virtualized, centralized, and managed in the datacenter and instantly delivered as a service to users anywhere.

The architecture of Citrix XenApp 7.5 varies from the earlier versions of Citrix XenApp.

Delivery Sites: Delivery Site is the highest level item in Citrix XenApp 7.5. Sites offer applications and desktops to groups of users. You must be in a domain to deploy a Site. For example, to install the servers, your account must have local administrator privileges and be a domain user in the Active Directory.

Delivery Controller: Delivery Controllers handle and distribute the connection requests in the Site.

Machine Catalogs: Machine Catalog is a collection of physical computers and virtual machines that you assign to users through the Delivery Group. What the user sees depends on the machine type, Server OS desktops, Desktop OS desktops.

Delivery Groups: Delivery Group is a collection of machines selected from one or more machine catalogs. The Delivery Group specifies which users can use those machines, and the applications available to those users.

MachinesA machine represents a virtual or physical computer that can be used within a site to provide sessions to users.

Published ApplicationsPublished applications are applications hosted from Windows servers or desktops to any type of device, including Windows PCs, Macs, smartphones, and tablets.
