This topic contains information about the features in BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp 1.0.00 and provides instructions for downloading the installation files. BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp provides the ability to monitor your Citrix XenApp farms and resources, including servers, published applications, and performance metrics like resolution time, enumeration time and data store connection status.

Using Citrix XenApp you can:

Discover all the servers in the farm

After you supply connection information for a single server in a farm, BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp automatically discovers the rest of the servers in the farm.

Monitor farms

At the farm level, you can monitor the number of sessions, the number of active sessions, the number of disconnected sessions, status of the farm, available concurrent user licenses in farm and information about when servers are added or removed from the farm.

Monitor servers in farms

At the server level, you can monitor the number of sessions, the number of active sessions, the number of disconnected sessions, the number of logged-in users, the load level of the XenApp server, and information if the published application is enabled or not.

Discover and monitor published applications

You can monitor published applications to determine if they are enabled for use and display the number of running instances of a published application on the server.

Configure XenApp through BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration (CMA)

You can configure BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp using BMC ProactiveNet 9.5 Central Monitoring Administration (CMA). For information, see Installing and Configuring-Citrix-XenApp-in-BMC-ProactiveNet.

Downloading the installation utility and the product

This section provides information for downloading BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp 1.0 from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

To download installation utility and the product from the EPD website

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

     

    Note

    On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
  7. You can download the installation utility and the product using either of the following methods:
Using Component View 
  1. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
  2. Click Go.
  3. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
  4. In the Version: list, select 9.5.00, and click Go.
  5. In the Products tab, select the check box next to the file,

  6. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
      This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
  7. Click <<Back to Product List. In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp.
  8. Click Go.
  9. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL for Citrix XenApp.
  10. In the Version: list, select 1.0.00, in Platform: list, select Microsoft Windows/NT and click Go.
  11. In the Products tab, select the check box next to the file.

  12. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager: Complete the installation procedure described in the Installing section.

  1. Click Go To Licensed Products View.
  2. Locate BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Suite and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
  3. Expand BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management Suite 9.5.00 to show the available components.
  4. Expand BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.5.00 to show the available files.
  5. Select the check box next to the file,

  10. Select the check box next to the file,
