Starting the PATROL Agent on OpenVMS in a batch process

This section explains how to start the PATROL Agent on an OpenVMS host in a batch process.

Before you begin

Before you start the PATROL Agent on OpenVMS in a batch process, ensure that you start the TCP/IP system first by using:

SUBMIT/NOPRINT/USER=PATROL
PATROLDISK4:[parm90:PATROL.MANAGE]PATROL$STARTUP/
PARAMETERS=3181

If the TCP/IP package is started in a batch process, use the SYNCHRONIZE command to delay the PATROL startup until the TCP/IP package startup has completed.

To start the PATROL Agent on OpenVMS

  1. Open the system-specific startup procedure SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM in a text editor.
  2. Insert the following lines into the system-specific startup procedure SYS$MANAGER:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM after the commands used to start the TCP/IP package:

    SUBMIT/NOPRINT/USER=PATROL
    PATROLDISK4:[parm90:PATROL.MANAGE]PATROL$STARTUP/
    PARAMETERS=3181

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
