Startup process of PATROL SNMP
SNMP Agent support is active only when both the PATROL SNMP Subagent and the PATROL SNMP Master Agent are communicating.
- Assuming that the agent configuration variable /snmp/agent_auto_start is set to yes, the PATROL Agent attempts to start the PATROL SNMP Subagent. However, if the PATROL SNMP Master Agent is not running, the subagent fails and PATROL writes an error message to the PATROL error (.errs) log.
- The SNMPStart parameter is defined within each platform.km file. The "out of box" default setting for this parameter is the active state. If active, SNMPStart checks to see if the PATROL SNMP Master Agent (snmpmagt) is running; if it is not, the parameter starts the master agent. SNMPStart then starts the PATROL SNMP Subagent and establishes a connection between the two.
When the PATROL SNMP Master Agent and the PATROL SNMP Subagent successfully connect, PATROL writes a message to the PATROL error log (.errs).
