Securely retrieve credentials for remote monitoring by using the BMC Helix Vault Adapter

The BMC Helix Vault Adapter enables PATROL Agents to securely retrieve credentials from the Beyond Trust vault during remote monitoring. Instead of storing usernames and passwords on PATROL Agent hosts or the monitor policy, use BMC Helix Vault Adapter to retrieve the credentials securely from a BeyondTrust vault. This capability is used during remote monitoring scenarios where PATROL Agents require credentials to connect to and monitor systems that run on different hosts. The PATROL Agent requests credentials via the BMC Helix Vault Adapter, which securely retrieves them from the BeyondTrust vault and uses them only for the specific monitoring operation. For more information, see Installing and Configuring BMC Helix Vault Adapter.

This enhancement offers the following benefits:

  • Reduces security risks by eliminating the need to store credentials in local configuration files

  • Makes credential management simple by streamlining updates and rotations for credentials, such as passwords or API keys.
