Adding balancing profiles
To add a balancing profile
- Click Services and then click Create New Service.
- Provide the service definition for a service.
- Click Health Profile and then click the service (for example, Database) for which you want to add the balancing profile.
- In the Define Service Health Processing pane, click Add Balancing Profile and perform the following steps:
- Enter a name for the profile.
- Select a base CI Category and based on that, select the base CI Kind.
The categories are displayed based on the CIs that are a part of the service.
A base CI is the CI node from where you want to start applying the balancing profile rule.
For example, select Host and Host Containers and then select Cluster. - From the list of CI names displayed, select the CI name.
Based on the selection the CI relationships are displayed. - You can choose the following options:
- Link Kind: Select the type of relationship between the Base CI and the related CI nodes.
- Resource CI Kind: Select the related CI kind.
- In the Fault tolerance policy section, select the quantifier by which you want to define the balancing rule:
- CI Percentage: Specify the percentage threshold after which the service will be impacted.
For example, if you specify 80%, the service will be impacted when 80% of the resources stop working. CI Count: Specify the number of resources after which the service will be impacted.
For example, if you specify 20, the service gets impacted if more than 20 resources stop working.
- CI Percentage: Specify the percentage threshold after which the service will be impacted.
- Click Save and Close.
You can add up to 10 balancing profiles for a service, all of which are considered while computing the health score. You cannot add multiple balancing profiles for the same CIs. - Click Save and Close.
The count of balancing profiles is shown as part of the service.
To edit a balancing profile
- From the Services page, search and select a service for which you want to edit the balancing profiles.
- From the action menu , select Edit Service.
- Click Health Profile and then click a service.
- In the Define Health Profile pane, expand Balancing Profiles, click the Action menu for a profile, and select Edit.
Edit the profile as required.
- Click Save and Close.
To delete a balancing profile
If there are no balancing profiles, when a service is impacted, all CI nodes are considered for computing a health score.
- Click Services and then click a service name for which you want to delete the profile.
- Click the action menu and select Edit Service.
- On the Edit Service page, click Health Profile and then click a service that has a balancing profile.
The Define Service Health processing displays the number of profiles. - Expand Balancing Profiles and select Action > Delete against the profile that you want to delete.
- Click Save and Close.
