Upgrading
Upgrade and migration overview
To summarize the upgrade paths and outcomes:
- You can upgrade to BMC Discovery 23.3 patch 1 running on Oracle Linux 9 from BMC Discovery running on CentOS 7 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.
- You can also migrate to BMC Discovery 23.3 patch 1. Migration involves backing up the old appliance and restoring to a new appliance running on Oracle Linux 9.

Before you upgrade, you should back up the appliance, or for clusters, each appliance. If you are using a virtual appliance, or a cluster of virtual appliances, you should shutdown the virtual appliance, take a snapshot, and restart.

Change of supported OS for BMC Discovery Outpost
The minimum supported version of the OS for the BMC Discovery Outpost is Windows Server 2016. Before upgrading your BMC Discovery Outposts to BMC Discovery 23.3 (13.0), you must upgrade any BMC Discovery Outpost hosts to Windows Server 2016 and later.
