NetApp Storage (ONTAP REST API) Discovered Information


This page details the storage information collected for each of the supported NetApp Storage Systems discovered via the Data ONTAP REST API in your IT infrastructure.

Storage Systems Information

To access the collected information for NetApp Storage systems:

  1. From the Home page, locate the Quick View section and click the Storage System icon to display the list of the discovered storage systems.
  2. In the Storage System list, double-click the NetApp storage system you wish to access.

The table below lists the System Storage Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.

Storage System Information

Description

Name

The name of the storage system.

Type

The type name of the storage system (Physical | SVM).

Client Access Types

The ways in which a client host can access the storage that this system is providing (NAS).

Vendor

The storage system vendor.

Model

The model name.

Serial Number

The storage system serial number.

Virtual

Indicates whether the storage system is virtual or not (when available).

Software Version

The version number of the software.

Hardware In Use (Hardware Container)

Hardware Container used by this Storage System.

Total Oversubscribed Capacity

Total space oversubscribed in the storage system.

Storage Device

Link to the storage device page.

Managed By

The software managing the storage system and the host on which it is running.

Storage Processors

Link to the storage processors page.

Storage Volume

Link to the storage volume page.

File Systems

Displays the number of related file systems. This is also a link to the File Systems List page. To see the file systems page, click the corresponding table row.

Cluster / Group

The name of the cluster/group related to the storage system.

IPv4/IPv6 Addresses

List of IPv4/IPv6 addresses used by the storage system.

Network Interfaces

List of the network interfaces related to the storage system.

HA Pair

 Link to the partner storage system node.

System Id

The identifier of the storage system.

Cifs System Name

The name of the CIFS service to which the storage system relates.

Hardware Container Information

A Hardware Container in BMC Discovery is a node that regroups all the available information about the discovered hardware components for a storage system. 

To access the collected information for hardware containers click the Hardware Container link available from Hardware In Use section of the Storage System page.

The name of the hardware container.

The type of the hardware container: Disk Shelf

Model

The model name of the hardware container.

Serial Number

The hardware container serial number.

Hardware Vendor

The name of the hardware container manufacturer.

Storage Systems

Link to the storage system(s) related to the hardware container.

Disk Drives

The list of the disk drives that are grouped in the hardware container.

Pattern

Link to the related pattern information.

Storage Device Information

A Storage device in BMC Discovery represents an NetApp storage chassis that has been discovered via the REST API. This section provides information about the Storage Device.

The unique identifier of the object representing the storage system.

OS Class

The operating system class.

OS Type

The operating system type.

OS Version

The version of the operating system.

OS Vendor

The operating system version.

Firmware Version

The version of firmware installed on the storage device.

Storage System Group

The storage system groups for this storage device. This is also a link to the Storage System Groups page.

Storage Systems

List of the storage systems for this storage device. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page.

Discovery Access

The discovery access history for the storage device.

Storage Processors Information

This section provides information about the storage processors managing data transfer for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for storage devices, click the Storage Processor link available in the Storage System page.

Processor Identifier

The processor identifier.

Vendor

The hardware vendor.

Model

The model name.

Description

The model description.

Processor Type

The type of the processor.

Processor Speed

The speed of the processor.

Number of Processors

The number of processors.

Serial

The serial number of the processor.

Memory

The amount of memory available for the processor (Gib).

Firmware

The firmware version of the processor.

Storage System

The name of the storage device. This is also a link to the Storage System page.

Front End FC Ports

List of the front-end FC Ports for this processor.

Location

The location of the processor.

Uuid

The Universally Unique Identifier of the processor.

Storage Pools Information

This section provides information about the NetApp Storage Pools for the selected storage system group.

To access the collected information for storage volumes:

  1. Click the Storage Pool link available in the Storage System group page.
  2. In the Storage Pools list, double-click the storage pool you wish to access.

Storage Pool Information

Description

Pool ID

The ID of the storage pool.

Type

The type of the storage pool.

Name

The name of the storage pool.

RAID Level

The RAID level of the storage pool.

Capacity

The usable capacity of the storage pool.

Consumed Capacity

The space actually consumed in the storage pool in bytes.

Percentage Consumed

The percentage of space consumed in the storage pool.

Available Capacity

The total capacity not consumed in the storage pool in bytes.

Subscribed Capacity

The total subscribed capacity in the storage pool.

Percentage Subscribed

The percentage of space subscribed in the storage pool.

Oversubscribed Capacity

The total space oversubscribed in the storage pool.

Oversubscription Warning

Indicates whether or not an oversubscription warning is active.

Storage System Group

The name of the storage system group for this storage pool. This is also a link to the Storage System Groups page. Refer to the Storage System Groups Information section for details.

File Systems

The file systems for the storage pool. This is also a link to the File System page.

Contained Storage Systems

The storage system related to the storage pool.

Storage Volumes

The volumes for the storage pool. This is also a link to the Storage Volumes page. Refer to the Storage Volumes Information section for details.

Storage Volume Mirrors

The number of mirrored volumes related to the storage pool.

Status

The status of the RAID Level.

Storage Volumes Information

This section provides information about the NetApp LUNS (modeled as storage volumes in BMC Discovery) for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for storage volumes:

  1. Click the Storage Volumes link available in the Storage System page.
  2. In the Storage Volumes list, double-click the storage volume you wish to access.

Storage Volume Information

Description

Volume ID

The ID of the storage volume.

Name

The name of the storage volume.

NAA ID

The Network Address Authority ID.

Thinly Provisioned

Indicates whether the volume is thinly provisioned or not. For example, if the volume is not thinly provisioned, it displays No.

Visible Capacity

The visible capacity of the storage volume.

Consumable Capacity

The consumable capacity of the storage volume.

Block Size

The block size of the storage volume.

Number of Blocks

The number of blocks of the storage volume.

Consumable Blocks

The number of consumable blocks of the storage volume.

Mapped

Indicates whether or not the storage volume is mapped.

Serial

The serial number of the storage volume.

Initiator Group

The NetApp initiator group to which storage volume is associated to.

Virtual Disks

This is the list of Virtual Disk drivers consuming this volume, if any.

Storage System

The name of the storage system for this storage volume. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page.

Storage Consumers

Name of the storage connections related to the storage volume. This is also a link to the Storage Connection page.

Filesystem Name

The name of the file system.

Alternative Filesystem Names

The file system aliases names.

Kind

The file system kind.

Type

The file system type.

Size

The file system size in bytes.

Used

The space used on the file system in bytes.

Used Percentage

The percentage of space used on the file system.

Free

The space available on the file system in bytes.

Free Percentage

The percentage of free space available on the file system.

Snapshot Size

The size of the snapshot.

Snapshot Used

The space used on the snapshot.

Snapshot Free

The space available on the snapshot.

Storage System

Name of the storage system for this file system. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page.

Thinly Provisioned

Indicates whether or not the file system is thinly provisioned.

Storage System Groups Information

This section provides information about the storage system group for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for the storage system group, click the Storage System Group Link in the Cluster / Group section available from the Storage System page.

The IPv4/IPv6 addresses used by the storage system group.

IP Addresses Information

This section provides information about the IP addresses used by the storage system.

To access the collected information for the IP addresses, click the IP Address Link of the Storage System page.

The IP address of the storage system node.

Type

The type of IP address (IPV4 or IPV6).

Broadcast Address

The broadcast address within the subnet.

Network Interface

The network interface related to the IP address.

The storage system related to the IP address.

Subnet

The sub-networks for the IP address.

Interface Aliases

The name of the interface aliases for the IP address.

Virtual Server

The name of the virtual server related to the IP address.

This section provides information about the network interface.

Network Interface Information

Description

Interface Name

The name of the network interface.

MAC Address

The unique identifier assigned to the network interface.

Speed (Mbps)

The speed of the network interface.

Duplex

Indicates the duplex mode status (half or full).

Negotiation

Indicates the link speed negotiation mode. By default, this option is set to AUTO for auto-negotiation.

Storage Device

The storage device related to the network interface.

Description

The description of the network interface.

Disk Drives Information

The total number of disk drives associated with a storage entity is displayed on the Storage System page.This section provides information about the disk drives for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for disk drives, click the disk drive you wish to access from the Hardware Container page,

Disk Drive Information

Description

Name

The name of the disk drive.

Type

The type of disk drive.

Speed

The speed of disk drive in RPMs.

Size

The size of the disk drive in bytes.

Vendor

The name of the disk drive vendor.

Model

The model of the disk drive.

Virtual

Indicates whether or not the disk drive is virtual.

Serial Number

The serial number of the disk drive.

Role

The role of the disk drive. For example RAID or Spare.

Current State

The current state of the disk drive.

Position

The position of the disk in the enclosure

Hardware Container

Name of the hardware container for this disk drive. This is also a link to the Hardware Container page.

Front End FC Ports Information

This section provides information about the front-end fiber channel ports transmitting data for the selected storage system.

To access the collected information for Frond End Fibre Channel Ports:

  1. Click a Processor Identifier name in the Storage Processors section of the Storage System page.
  2. Click a Port Name in the Front End FC Ports section.

Description

Port Name

The name of the front end FC port.

WWPN

The world wide port name of the port.

Role

The role of the FC port.

Type

The front end FC port type.

State

The front end FC port state.

Speed (Gb/s)

The front end FC port speed (in Gbit/s).

Storage Processor

The storage processor for this port. This is also a link to the Storage Processor page. Refer to the Storage Processors Informationsection for details.

Storage Connection Information

A Storage connection represents a connection between a storage client (a host using the storage) and a storage volume. The same connection may be linked to multiple volumes representing the client's visibility of multiple storage volumes. The volumes shown are only those that the client is permitted to access. This section provides information about the Storage Connection for the selected storage volume.

To access the collected information for storage connections:

  1. Click the Infrastructure tab, and then the Storage Systems in the Infrastructure Summary section.
  2. Select a storage system from the list.
  3. Click the Storage Volumes related link in the Storage Volumes section to display a list of the storage connections associated to the selected volume.
  4. Select a Storage Volume from the list.
  5. Click a Connection Name in the Storage Consumers section.

Description

Connection Name

The name of the connection.

Connection Type

The type of storage connection. 

Connection Value

A unique identifier for the storage consumer using this connection.

Storage Volumes

The name of any storage volumes visible to the host using this connection.

Consumer Fibre Chanel Port

Information on the Fiber channel port on the host using this connection.
