Dell EMC VNXe 3200 Storage Systems

EMC VNXe 3200 Storage Systems are discovered via an embedded SMI-S Provider. As part of routine discovery, when the SMI-S Provider is encountered, a storage device instance is modeled in BMC Discovery. The SMI-S Provider is interrogated by using WBEM-based protocol requests to discover any storage entities that it manages. The storage entities are then modeled in BMC Discovery.

Prerequisites

Configure WBEM credentials for EMC Unity:

  1. Go to the EMC Unisphere site https://<ip-adress-of-emc-unity>/
  2. Click Settings > User & Groups > Manage Administration to view a list of Unisphere users/groups and their associated roles.
  3. Click on Create to create a user of type “Local User”. Note: If the user is, for example, patrol, the WBEM username must be Local/patrol; otherwise, the WBEM connection fails.
  4. Choose the Operator role for the user (which is the minimum required account role).
Warning

Important
The network connectivity between the BMC Discovery server and the SMI-S Provider over the WBEM port must be 5988 for HTTP or 5989 for HTTPS.
