Dell EMC Celerra/VNX (NAS) and eNAS Storage Systems
EMC Celerra/VNX and eNAS storage systems are NAS file servers that provide NAS functionality through one or several Data Movers and a Control Station. As part of routine discovery, when the embedded EMC Celerra SMI-S Provider is encountered, an EMC CIM Object Manager software instance is created. The SMI-S Provider is interrogated to discover any storage entities that it is managing. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.
Prerequisites for EMC Celerra/VNX (NAS) Models
- Host credentials for the Control Station host on which the Celerra SMI-S Provider is running.
WBEM credentials for Control Station host. The WBEM account needs to be created with, at least, Operator privileges:
- Go to EMC Unisphere web site installed on the control station https://<ip-adress-of-control-station>/
- Select All Systems > Domains, and from the Users task list, click Manage Global Users.
- In the Global User Management dialog, click Add.
- In Storage Domain Role, choose Operator and click OK to add the new user.
Note: These credentials should be entered as WBEM credentials for the IP address of the control station.
- Network access on a WBEM port (5988 for http, 5989 for https) from the Discovery server to the Control Station.
The EMC SMI-S Provider is installed by default when the base NAS software is installed in the directory /celerra/wbem on the Control Station. However it is possible that the SMI-S Provider must be enabled on the Control Station. Refer to the Documentation Links for detailed information.
Prerequisites for eNAS Models
- WBEM credentials for eNAS Control Station host. These credentials should be entered as WBEM credentials for the IP address of the control station.
- Network access on a WBEM port (5989 for https) from the BMC Discovery server to the Control Station.
Note: No specific configuration of SSH credentials for eNAS Control Station host are required.
Supported Platforms
- EMC Celerra
- EMC VNX (NAS only)
