Communication ports and protocols

When you deploy the Gateway Server and Continuous Optimization Agents to collect on-premises data, you must ensure that the required ports and protocols are configured to allow communication between the components. The port requirements are the same for SaaS and on-premises deployments.

Port requirement summary for Gateway Servers and Agents

Gateway Server comprises of several components that analyze performance, report statistics, predict future performance, and enable capacity planning for your database. Gateway Server supports collecting, analyzing, and modeling business-oriented workloads with system data, and requires several TCP ports to be open for the Gateway Server and Capacity Agents to communicate

The following figure shows the default protocols and ports used by the Gateway Server, GeneralManagerServer, and Continuous Optimization agent components.

Gateway Server to AgentCollect/ManagerThe Gateway Server initiates a connection to port 10128 on the Capacity Agent system for collection start, query, and pull requests. Port 10128 is also required for the UDR Collection Manager (UCM)

Local communication on BHCO agentCollectThe Service Daemon uses port 6767 on the local machine to check if the Capacity Agent is running and, if not, it will start it.

Optional and disabled by default.  Data Collection Status Messages.

Note: Most environments do not open firewall ports to allow this communication since this information is not required for typical status monitoring.
