Creating and viewing entities
To add an entity to a domain
- Select Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications > domainName.
- Select Add > Add system, and click Next.
- To create a new entity, perform these steps:
- Select Create a new system, and click Next.
- Specify a name, type, and optional description for the entity, and click Next.
- On the Summary page, click Finish.
- To import an existing entity, perform these steps:
- Select Import existing system, and click Next.
Select the system you want to add.
Under Source, all the systems are listed under categories, such as All Domains, Newly discovered, Unassigned and Shared Systems. You can expand a category and select a system.- On the Summary page, click Finish.
The system is added to the domain.
To create a derived entity
Create a derived entity that is based on the existing entities. The capacity of the derived entity is calculated based on the values of capacity-specific parameters of these exiting entities.
- Select Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications > domainName.
- Select Add > Add system, and click Next.
- Select Derive a new system from existing resources, and click Next.
- Select one or more entities from which you want to derive the entity, and click Next.
- Select one of the following metrics to include in the derived entity:
- All global metrics: Includes all the metrics for which the resource type is global.
- All metrics: Includes all types of metrics.
- Select metrics: Select a specific metric from the list.
Select the aggregation type to be used for calculating the capacity of the derived entity, and click Next.
- In the Start since box, specify a date from which you want to import data, and click Next.
The default is last 7 days. - Specify a name, type, and optional description for the entity, and click Next.
- On the Summary page, click Finish.
To edit the configuration of a derived entity
- Select Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications > domainName.
- In the left pane, select the derived entity to be updated.
- Click Edit structure to change the entities, metrics, and the start date of data collection.
- Click Recompute series to define a period from which you want to recalculate the metric series.
To add an entity to an existing system or business driver
- Select Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications.
- Click Systems (or Business drivers) showing under the selected domain in the left navigation pane.
- On the detail page, click Add and click Next.
- Create a new entity or import an existing entity. For details, see Adding and importing entities in a domain.
To view an entity
- Select Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications.
- Expand the Systems (or Business drivers) node.
- Locate the system (or business driver) in the navigation tree.
- Click its name to view the details of metrics that are imported by the entity.
