Working with domains and entities

Entities in BMC Helix Continuous Optimization can be classified in three categories: Domains, Business Drivers, and Systems. Each of these categories has its own set of sub-types that can be assigned to the entity. For more information, see Entity-types.

A domain is a set of systems and business drivers that are logically related to each other. You can use domains to group together services belonging to the same business division. To access domains, navigate to Workspace > Domains, Services & Applications and select the required domain.

You can create special types of domains that group together systems or business drivers by their type rather than by the service they provide.

BMC Helix Continuous Optimization also provides a special, multi-purpose domain called Generic that covers every possible grouping that you can create.

When adding a system or business driver to a domain, you can select it from a list of entities of other existing applications. You can associate a system or business driver with its service context and other domains.
