Viewing diagnostic alerts


The Diagnostic alerts page displays a list of diagnostic, failure, error and warning messages generated and logged by BMC Helix Continuous Optimization components.

To access this page, navigate to Administration > System > Diagnostic alerts

Use the following options to change the data displayed in the table.

Collecting logs

To collect all logs from the Diagnostic alerts page, click Collect logs. You are redirected to the Collect logs page and BMC Helix Continuous Optimization automatically begins collecting all types of log files.

The List of log files being collected table displays the following information:

Column

Description

Type

The type or name of the component for which the log file is being collected. For example, ETL task, System task, Application server.

Name

Name of the task associated with the component for which the log file is being collected. For example, Optimizer - daily, Hierarchy Manager.

Status

Status of log collection for each type:

  • Running: Collection currently in progress
  • Ready: Next in queue and ready for log collection
  • Completed: Log collection complete
  • Error: There was an error in log collection. Rerun the collection or contact your administrator

Progress

Live progress (in percentage) of the log collection activity.

Log files

Displays one or more icons that enable you to download the collected and processed log files. These icons are displayed after the collection progress is 100% complete.

Download all log files

Click to download all collected log files together. Logs are downloaded as a .zip file titled collectedReports.zip.

Viewing the Diagnostic alerts table

The Diagnostic alerts table displays the following information:

Description

Close

Select one of the following:

  • Close selected: Closes and hides all selected alerts in the table.
  • Close all: Closes and hides all alerts in the table.
  • Close all of type FAILURE (FAIL): Closes and hides all diagnostic alerts of type FAILURE (FAIL), in the table.
  • Close all of type ERROR (ERR): Closes and hides all diagnostic alerts of type ERROR (ERR), in the table.
  • Closes all of type WARNING (WARN): Closes and hides all diagnostic alerts of type WARNING (WARN), in the table.

When you close any diagnostic alert, you close that occurrence of the alert. If the issue persists, the alert is displayed again.

Use the check box to select or clear all alert messages. This control is normally used in conjunction with the Close options.

Alert icon

Depicts alerts with one of the following icons to distinguish their type:

  • DA_icon_error.png: ERROR (ERR)
  • DA_icon_failure.png: FAILURE (FAIL)
  • DA_icon_warning.png: WARNING (WARN)

Last occurrence

A timestamp depicting the last occurrence of the particular alert in the system.

First occurrence

A timestamp depicting the first occurrence of the particular alert in the system.

Timestamp

The date and time on which the alert was logged in the system.

Occurrences

Total number of occurrences of the particular alert.

Error Code

The BMC Helix Continuous Optimization error code associated with the type alert. For a complete listing, see Error-codes.

Component

The BMC Helix Continuous Optimization component that generated the error. Example: Remote Scheduler, Gateway Server.

Subcomponent

The BMC Helix Continuous Optimization subcomponent that generated the error. The task ID of the task is associated with the component that generated the error. Click the task ID to view the details of the particular task. To return to the Alerts page, use your browser's Back button.

Message

The text of the error message logged in the log file of the component. You can expand the message box to view full details of the error.
