Adding external database connections

You must create a new external DB connection to connect to any of the external databases. You can use this connection while configuring the ETL.

The communication channel between the BMC Helix Capacity Optimization components and the external databases can be in TCP or TLS 1.2 mode.

1. Log in to the Helix Capacity Optimization Console.
2. Click Administration > ETL & SYSTEM TASKS > External DB connections
3. Click Add connection. The External DB connections page is displayed.

4. Type the following details:

   • Basic properties
   • Advanced properties

   Note

   Basic properties are displayed by default in the External DB connections page. These are the most common properties that you can set.

   Note

   To view or configure Advanced properties, click Advanced. You do not need to set or modify these properties unless you want to change the way the connection works. These properties are for advanced users and scenarios only.

5. Click Save.
