This documentation supports the 22.1 version of BMC Helix Single Sign-On, which is available only to BMC Helix customers (SaaS). To view an earlier version, select the version from the Product version menu.

Installation permissions


Before you install BMC Helix Single Sign-On, make sure that you have the access and permissions described in this topic.

You must have administrator privileges to run the installer.

You can log in as a root user or a non-root user to install BMC Helix SSO.

If you are installing BMC Helix SSO as a non-root user, make sure that you have permissions to perform the following tasks:

  • Run the installer and write the files to a destination directory where the system is installed.
  • Read and write configuration files to the directories of integrated products.
  • Execute files in the /tmp directory.
  • Run the Tomcat service with BMC Helix SSO. Perform read and write operations on the file system.

User permissions for BMC Helix SSO database

You must have a database user with permissions to create tables, and read and write data to them.

Network access requirements

The following network requirements must be met:

  • End users must have access to the BMC Helix SSO server over HTTP/HTTPS.
  • The BMC Helix SSO server must have access to the database.
  • The BMC Helix SSO server must have access to identity providers that are used to authenticate end users.
  • The BMC Helix SSO agents must have access to the BMC Helix SSO server over HTTP/HTTPS.
