BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations overview

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations  collects events, metrics, and topology data from various third-party products such as AppDynamics, Microsoft SCOM, and VMWare VROps. It collects data from products across different environments (cloud-based, on-premises, or hybrid) and sends it to the applications with the BMC Helix IT Operations Management (ITOM) solution. The ITOM solution is a centralized platform where you can derive actionable insights from the aggregated data. With ready-to-use connectors, BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations helps IT Operations teams to ingest and reconcile all of their monitoring data together into a unified view.

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations is built on a microservices-based architecture. Depending on where your data source resides (SaaS, on-premises) and your organization's needs, you can deploy the product into your on-premises or SaaS environment.

Product features

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrationsuses REST APIs or a webhook mechanism to collect data from sources and enables fast and automated connections to data sources. It provides continuous data streams from the connected data sources, thus minimizing the resources required to continuously track the data sources for streaming. In addition, the product offers a click-and-connect capability to configure a connection, thus reducing the effort that might be required to connect with the data sources; for example, the work required to write a custom script to collect data.

Benefits of connecting BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations to the BMC Helix ITOM solution

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations collects events, metrics, and topology data from different sources and sends it to the BMC Helix ITOM solution. The applications in this solution use AI and machine learning to analyze the data, automate tasks, predict issues, and improve the performance and reliability of IT services.

Derive the following benefits from the events, metrics, and topology data streamed through BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations:

  • Improved event management: Events from data sources supplement the existing monitoring systems, such as BMC Helix Operations Management, which provides a comprehensive monitoring view and reduces the number of false positives. This results in event noise reduction.
  • Data correlation: BMC Helix AIOps uses data ingested from various data sources to correlate issues. The correlation helps BMC Helix AIOps to present the potential root cause of an issue more accurately.
  • Root cause analysis: Third-party configuration item (CI) information (topology) is used to identify the underlying cause of issues, especially when they are caused by changes in the IT infrastructure. The topology information can also be used to identify and prioritize critical systems and services.
  • Predictive intelligence: Reconciliation of the topology data from various data sources helps BMC Helix AIOps predict potential failures and allow proactive maintenance, reducing downtime and improving the availability of IT systems to make the monitoring proactive.

Overall, the ingestion of third-party events, alerts, and topology data provides a complete picture of the IT landscape and helps ITOM users to make better decisions and improve the overall reliability and performance of IT operations.

User roles

BMC Helix Intelligent Integrations leverages BMC Helix Portal to provide single sign-on authentication for users.

BMC Helix Portal is where you can create and edit users and user groups, and assign any of the available permissions, such as creating, modifying, viewing, deleting, or managing objects. You cannot create new permissions. For information about assigning permissions, see Setting up roles and permissions in the BMC Helix Portal documentation.

The following video (2:46) provides an overview of permissions and how to assign them to roles in BMC Helix Portal:
