BMC Helix Discovery Software Risk Assessment dashboard

As a BMC Helix Discovery dashboard user, use the Discovery Software Risk Assessment dashboard to view the following information about the software searched for. The search term in these report names is example_software, though it could be any software, such as Crowdstrike or log4J.

To view the BMC Helix Discovery Cluster Reports dashboard

  1. From the navigation menu, click navigation_menu.pngDashboards.

  2. Click DSM Software Risk Assessment.

    Tip: Quick access from the home page

    To quickly open the dashboard from the home page, mark it as a favorite by using the star icon. Additionally, after you open a dashboard, it is available under Recently viewed dashboards on the home page.

Services with installed packages (example_software)


Display a list of services with the example_software packages installed.

  • Kind—the node kind with the service installed. For example, BusinessService.
  • Service—the service name.
  • Node—the node kind that the service runs as. For example, SoftwareInstance.
  • Software—the name of the software. For example, CrowdStrike Falcon Sensor.
  • Version—the software version number.
  • HostName (count)—the number of hosts on which the service is running. Each number links to a list view of the hosts.

Display a chart and a list of the top 10 matching packages.

Hover over a segment to show the package name and the number of hosts on which the package is installed. 

Click to see a list of packages with information about the package and the hosts.

  • Kind—the node kind of the package. This is usually Package.
  • Name—the package name.
  • Version—the software version number.
  • Host (count)—the number of hosts on which the package is installed. Each number links to a list view of the hosts.

  • Kind—the node kind of the doftware. For example, SoftwareInstance, or Runtime Environment.
  • Name—the name of the matching software.
  • Version—the software version number.
  • Host (count)—the number of hosts on which the software is running. Each number links to a list view of the hosts.
