Complete post-installation configuration tasks

This topic describes how to install the repository by using the TrueSight Orchestration installation wizard. You use the same installer to install all platform components one after the other as described in the installation process.

To install the repository

  1. Navigate to the directory where the installation program files are downloaded and start the installation program.
    • Windows: setup.cmd
    • Linux: linux_bao_server_installer_<version>.sh
  2. On the splash screen, select the language in which to view the installation program, and click OK.
  3. Review the welcome page and click Next.
  4. Read the license agreement, agree to the terms, and click Next
  5. Select Install new Orchestrator components and click Next.
  6. Select the Repository check box and click Next
  7. Browse to select the directory to install the repository and click Next.
By default, the component is installed in the following directories based on your server operating system:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BAO\REPO
    • UNIX: /opt/bmc/BAO/REPO
  8. Click Edit Ports to specify the root port for the repository and click Next.

    Restricted port: 443

Do not use port number 443 as it is restricted for SSL communication. If specified, repository is installed successfully, however, TrueSight Orchestration Content installation fails.

By default, the following ports are used for the repository:

    • Repository: 28080
    • Repository shutdown: 28050
  9. If using embedded Remedy SSO, select Install Embedded Remedy SSO, and click Advanced Options, and provide the following information:

    Parameter

    Default value

    Notes

    Service Name

    BAO-REPO

If you install more than one repository on the same computer, ensure that you change the Service Name to avoid conflict.

    Repository Protocol

    https

    Repository Host Name

    -

Fully qualified domain name of the computer where you are installing the repository

    Repository HA Address

    -

Provide the repository IP address and port for communication with the enterprise service bus. Use the following format:

    <IPaddress>:<port>

On a machine that has multiple network interface cards (NICs) this must be the IP address that allows access from the CDP and/or the HA-CDP.

The default port is the repository web port plus 10. For example, if the repository port is 28080, the Repository HA address is 28090.

When to specify the Repository HA address?

    • This entry is required for installations/upgrades with embedded RSSO installations. This is not applicable if you are using external RSSO on the CDP.
    • Often multiple IP addresses are detected by the installer (on a machine that has multiple NICs). Verify the default address and port number and replace them if required.
    • If using external Remedy SSO, Repository HA Address and port is mandatory for successfully installing and running the repository.

    TSO Domain

    -

Specifies the cookie domain name for TrueSight Orchestration and BMC Remedy Single Sign-On, which controls the cookie visibility between servers within the domain. You must specify the network domain of the computer on which you are installing the component.

    Example: yourcompany.com

    Admin password

    -

Specifies the password for the aoadmin user.

  10. If using external RSSO, select Use External Remedy SSO and provide the following information:

    Parameter

    Default value and notes

    Remedy SSO URL

Provide the external Remedy SSO URL in the following format:
https://<hostname>/<port>   For example, if Remedy SSO server has the name external-rsso.mydomain, the URL can be:
    https://external-rsso.mydomain:8080

    Remedy SSO Realm

Provide the name of the realm.

    Admin password

Enter the admin password to log into RSSO.

    Remedy SSO Version

Select your Remedy SSO version from the following list:  9.1.02, 9.1.03.x, 9.1.04.x, 18.x

  11. To start the repository server after installation, select Yes.
  12. Review the information on the Installation Choices Summary panel, and click Install.
  13. On the Installation Summary panel, perform one of the following actions:
    • To exit the installation program, click Done.
    • To review the BAO_install_log.txt file, click View Log, and then click Done to exit the installation program.
  14. To verify whether the repository server is successfully installed, log on to the repository by using the following credentials:

Default URL and user credentials for the repository

    • URL: http(s)://FullyQualifiedDomainName:repoWebServerPort/ux
    • Username: aoadmin
  15. To log on to the embedded instance of Remedy SSO, use the following default credentials:

Default URL and user credentials for Remedy SSO

    • URL: http(s)://FullyQualifiedDomainName:repoWebServerPort/rsso
Note that this is the URL for the embedded RSSO instance on the repository. If you are accessing an external RSSO instance, use the URL for that instance.
    • Username: Admin
  16. If you are using embedded Remedy SSO, fail-safe configuration for the enterprise service bus (ESB). This ensures that local user management changes made on one instance of Remedy SSO are reflected in other Remedy SSO instances in your environment. For more information, see Configuring-a-fail-safe-enterprise-service-bus-after-installation

Post-installation notes

  • When you install the repository, a default user, aoadmin is created.
  • If you installed repository with the embedded RSSO, a default local user aoadmin, default role AoAdmin, and a realm BAOLocal are created in RSSO. The user aoadmin is automatically added to the AoAdmin role.
  • If using external RSSO, the aoadmin user must be assigned to the AoAdmin role (in RSSO) for TrueSight Orchestration authentication.
  • After you log on to the repository using the default credentials, change passwords for the default user.
  • If you are using Internet Explorer 8.0 or later, ensure that you add the URL for the TrueSight Orchestration repository in the trusted sites of the browser.

Next step in the installation process

You can perform either of the following tasks:

  • Install the CDP
  • Install content (adapter, modules, and run books). You can also choose to install the content after all platform components are installed.
