Manually importing the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports into SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 SP3


When you install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, if you had selected not to import BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports, you must manually import them into the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise by using the Import Wizard of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. The Import Wizard guides you through the process of importing users, groups, and folders into SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.

Note

If you had selected to import BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports when you install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, do not import them manually as the installer has automatically imported them into SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.

Before you begin

Before importing the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports, ensure that:

  • You have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise 3.1 SP3.
  • You have installed the Oracle client if you have installed Oracle Database and SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise on different computers.

To import universe and reports

  1. From the Start menu, select Programs > BusinessObjects XI 3.1 > BusinessObjects Enterprise > Import Wizard.
  2. In the welcome page, click Next.
  3. In the Source environment page, perform the following actions:
    1. In the Source list, select Business Intelligence Archive Resource (BIAR) File.
    2. In the BIAR file box, specify the path of the bmcppm_90_boxi_31.biar file.
       This file is located in the Reports/UniverseAndReports folder.
    3. Click Next.
  4. In the Destination environment page, perform the following actions:
    1. In the CMS Name box, type the name of the computer on which you have installed SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.
    2. In the User Name box, type the user name that provides administrative rights to the destination environment.

      Warning

      Note

      The default user name is Administrator. You must use the password that you
       configured for the administrator account at the time of installing SAP BusinessObjects
       Enterprise.

    3. In the Password box, type the corresponding password for the user name.
    4. In the Authentication box, select Enterprise and click Next.
       The Select objects to import page is displayed. The options that appear on the page depend on the source environment and its version.
  5. Select Import Corporate Categories, Import folders and objects, and Import Universes, and then click Next.

    Warning

    Note

    Under Import folders and objects, there is no need to import Import discussions associated with the selected reports and Import application folders and objects.

  6. In the Import scenario page, specify what you want the Import Wizard to do if it finds an object with the same unique identifier on the destination environment.
    Update the destination object, in case of name conflict, do not rename it — use this option when you want to restore all the server objects from the BIAR file to a deployment.
  7. Click Next.
  8. In the Incremental import page, clear all the check boxes and then click Next.
     If you are upgrading from a previous version, make sure to select all check boxes and click Next.
  9. Click Next to confirm the note about importing objects rights.
  10. In the Categories page, click Select All and Click Next.
  11. In the Folders and objects page, select the folders and objects that you want to import and then click Next.
  12. In the Import options for universes and connections page, select Import the universes and connections that the selected Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence documents use directly.

    In the next dialog box, you can select additional universes that are not used by any imported document and click Next.
  13. The Universe folder and universes page is displayed. By default, the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management option is selected.
  14. Click Next.
  15. In the Import options for publications page, select Do not import recipients.
  16. In the Ready to import page, click Finish.

     The Import Progress dialog box displays the status information and import summary while the Import Wizard executes the import tasks.
  17. To view the import log, click View Detail Log.
  18. After a successful import of the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports, click Done to exit the wizard.
