PreAnalyzer checks


This topic includes the following checks that the PreAnalyzer might report when you install or upgrade your environment. It also includes the remediation actions that you must take to proceed with the installation.

Tip

Ensure that you refer to the latest version of the PreAnalyzer Execution Report located under the reports folder of the Planner installation directory.

SQL Server/Oracle Database Connectivity Validation

The Database Connection should be successful

  • Check whether:                                             
    • DB Server is up and running.
    • DBA username and/or password is correct. 
    • User has DBA permissions. 
    • Database client configurations are correct.
      For more information, check preanalyzer.log (located under the logs folder of the Planner installation directory) 
    • DNS configuration and nslookup are working. 
  • Set Oracle_SID (for example, export ORACLE_SID=ORA112DB) on the target server in  /root/.bash_profile. Open a new shell session. Restart the RSCD Agent on the target server.

Enterprise AR System Server and AR System Mid-Tier tuning

If the EAR or Mid-tier JVM and Garbage Collection (GC) parameters check fails with the Validate Java Performance tuning configuration error when the PreAnalyzer is run, perform the following steps to remediate it:

Windows computer

  1. Remotely connect to the computer on which EAR or AR System Mid-tier is installed.
  2. Right click the Windows icon and select Search.
  3. Type  "Configure Tomcat" and press Enter.
  4. On the Apache Tomcat Properties dialog box, click the Java tab.
  5. In the Java Options field, ensure that the following entries are present:
    -XX:+UseCompressedOop
    -XX:+UseParallelGC
  6. In the Java Options field, ensure that the entry for "-Xincg" is absent.

  1. Use SSH to connect to the computer on which AR System Mid-tier is installed.
  2. Go to the <mid-tier-tomcat-install-directory>/bin folder. For example, cd /data1/apache/tomcat6.0/bin
  3. Stop Tomcat by executing the ./shutdown.sh command.
  4. Open startup.sh.
  5. Search for the JAVA_OPTS variable.
  6. Add one more of the following entries as per recommendations: 
    • JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Xmx2048m"; export JAVA_OPTS
    • JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -XX:+UseCompressedOops"; export JAVA_OPTS
    • JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -XX:+UseParallelGC"; export JAVA_OPTS
  7. Save the startup.sh file.
  8. Start Tomcat by executing the ./shartup.sh command.
