Simplified installation experience
With this release, the installation process is simplified to install only BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management components using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installation wizard. Other component BMC products that are required for the solution will be required to be installed before running the installer. The simplified installer verifies whether all the required products based on your deployment are installed, enables you to integrate with the BMC products, and then installs the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management components.
To ensure that you install the compatible versions, installers, patches, and hot fixes applicable to BMC products are provided along with the Cloud Lifecycle Management components on BMC Electronic Product Download site.
Starting 4.7, you can no longer use the compact deployment option for a new deployment. If you are upgrading from a previous version, you can still upgrade using the compact deployment option.
For details about installing the product, see Installing.
The simplified installed includes the following changes:
New Deployment option is replaced with Integrate with Existing Deployment option
Since you install all BMC products prior to running the installer, when you launch the installer, you use Integrate with Existing Deployment option to integrate with the products and then install BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management components.
BMC Remedy Single Sign-On configuration
While installing the Cloud Platform Manager component, a new panel appears in the installer, where you can provide BMC Remedy SSO details. These configurations are updated in the <platform_manager_install_directory>/Platform_Manager/configuration/cloudservices.json file.
New Enforce Certificate Validation field in the Core Cloud Services panel
A new field is added to the installer, which enables you to specify the certificate details for communication between the Platform manager and the cloud providers.
If selected as true, you are asked to provide certificate path and password for TrueSight Server Automation, Remedy Single Sign-On, OpenStack, and VMware vCloud. The certificates are imported in Platform Manager Java and the <platform_manager_install_directory>/Platform_Manager/configuration/cloudservices.json file is updated. The Platform Manager authenticates communication between the Platform manager and the providers. If certificates are invalid, the communication fails. This is not a required field.
Externalization of hash for encryption and decryption of password for provisioning and onboarding virtual machines
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management provides an external parameter, encrypt_decrypt_hash, for encryption or decryption passwords for provisioning and onboarding virtual machines. If you want to change the hash, update it in the following locations:
Product component | Location/Form name |
---|---|
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Platform Manager |
|
BMC Remedy AR System | CMF:PluginConfiguration |
Secret Key is now configurable
With this release, you can configure a custom secret key and use it for installing the other BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management components such as the Platform Manager, Cloud Portal AR Extensions, Self Checker, Cloud Portal Web Application (Primary and Secondary), Brownfield Utility, and BMC Remedy AR System Mid Tier. The secret key can be changed after the installation or upgrade is complete.
Product versions and compatibility
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution is now compatible with the following product versions:
Product | Supported version |
---|---|
BMC Remedy Action Request System (includes BMC Remedy Enterprise AR, BMC Remedy Mid Tier, BMC Atrium Web Services) | 18.05 Patch 5 |
TrueSight Server Automation | 8.9.04 Patch 3 |
TrueSight Network Automation | 8.9.04 Patch 3 |
TrueSight Orchestration Platform | 8.2.00 |
TrueSight Orchestration Content (Cloud-specific content) | 4.7 (Packages Content 20.19.01) |
BMC Digital Workplace | 20.02.01 |
The installers, patches, and hot fixes for all the compatible products are shipped with the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer on BMC Electronic Product Downloads.
For more information, see Component-BMC-product-service-pack-and-patch-levels.
Supported Java and Tomcat versions
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution uses Adopt Java 1.8.0_202 version, which is to be used as an external JRE for BMC Remedy AR System components, BMC CMDB (formerly called Atrium Core), BMC Remedy Mid-Tier, and BMC Atrium Web Services components. You can also use a licensed Oracle Java version 1.8.0_202, if available.
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution uses Apache Tomcat version 8.0.51 for BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management components such as Cloud SelfChecker and Cloud Portal Web Application.
For more information, see System-requirements.
Upgrading to BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.7
You can now upgrade version 4.7 from 4.6.07.x version only. If you are using any previous versions of the product, BMC recommends that you upgrade to version 4.6.07 or any of the patches, and then upgrade to the current version. Starting 4.7, staging upgrades are no longer supported.
You cannot upgrade all BMC products required for the solution by using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer. BMC products that must be upgraded using the standalone installers (shipped with the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer) are described in the upgrade sections. After upgrading the products manually, you can upgrade the rest of the products using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management installer.
For more information, see Upgrading.
