Synchronize Virtual Cluster or SOI causes VMs to be decommissioned

Warning

If the BMC BladeLogic RSCD agent on the vCenter is not appropriately sized, performing a Synchronize operation on a virtual cluster or a service offering instance in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.5.00 might cause the agent to run out of Java heap memory and thereby result in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management erroneously decommissioning VMs on that cluster. For more information about the Synchronize operation, see Updating a virtual cluster and Refreshing-service-instances.

Available fix for this issue

You can find a fix for this issue in the cumulative BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.5.00 Patch 3 at http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.

For BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Patch documentation, see Patches.

This fix will allow you to perform a Synchronize operation without deleting any VMs from the vCenter if an out-of-memory error occurs.
