Configuring BMC Remedy AR System Server

This topic describes post-upgrade configuration information for BMC Remedy AR System server & BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite (Enterprise AR System server) and AR System Server – Cloud Database (Cloud Database).

Note

If you are using the aliasing method in /etc/hosts, you do not need to configure the load balancer or the DSO mappings for the E-AR server. Simply remove the load-balancer alias from /etc/hosts.

Configuring a load balancer for Enterprise AR System server

To reconfigure load balancer settings on the Enterprise AR System server and Cloud Database hosts after upgrading to 4.x, perform the following steps:

  1. From the <AR System server installation directory>/Conf folder, open the ar.conf configuration file.
  2. Set the following parameters:
    1. Server-Name to the load balancer name, for example, Server-Name=<LB Host>.
    2. Server-Connect-Name with local host name, for example, Server-Connect-Name=<AR System Server host name ( local host)>.
  3. Save the ar.conf configuration file and restart the BMC Remedy Action Request System Server service on both hosts.

Configuring DSO mappings for the Enterprise AR System server

To configure Distributed Server Option (DSO) mappings on the Enterprise AR System server and Cloud Database hosts after upgrading to version 4.x, perform the following steps. If you have configured high availability (HA) in your environment, you must perform these steps on primary and secondary hosts for both products.

  1. Log on to the AR System server on the Enterprise AR System server host as the Demo user.
  2. Search for the Distributed Logical Mapping form.
  3. Click Search and open the DSO mapping form.
  4. In the Physical Name field, specify the Cloud Database load balancer host name.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Open the AR System Administration console.
  7. Select System > General > System Information > Configuration.
  8. Click Server Group > Advanced and verify the Server Group name.
  9. Click the Connection Settings > DSO Server tab.
  10. In the table, specify the Cloud Database load balancer host name and port number.
  11. Perform steps 1 through 10 on the Cloud Database host, where you will specify the Enterprise AR System server host load balancer information.
