Creating options and option choices for the IBM SoftLayer Provider
BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management administrators can create CPU, memory, disk, and software options and option choices so that the IBM SoftLayer Provider end users can modify their configurations after a system is provisioned.
For the memory option, you can create choices of memory size based on allowed memory sizes in the IBM SoftLayer.
This topic provides the following information:
About the options for the IBM SoftLayer Provider
You must create the following options for an IBM SoftLayer Provider of the corresponding option types:
Option Name | Option Type |
|---|---|
Update CPU and Memory |
|
Add Disk |
|
Add Software Packages |
|
Creating options for the IBM SoftLayer Provider
To create a IBM SoftLayer Provider option, open the Options Editor and define the IBM SoftLayer Provider option.

You must configure an option choice for the option created for the IBM SoftLayer Provider. For detailed steps, see To add options and option choices to service blueprints.
To create an option choice for CPU Count or Memory Size
- Define the option choice for Update CPU and Memory option at Blueprint Configuration > CPU Count or Memory Size.

For more information, see Option-Choices-available-when-extending-service-blueprints. - Specify the following details for configuring an option choice:
- CPU count

- Memory Size

- CPU count
Creating an option choice for Add Disk
The Add Disk option allows you to increase the disk volume of a provisioned VM. For the Add Disk option, you must create the option choices for blueprint configuration as Additional System Disk.
- Define the Add Disk option choice at Blueprint Configuration > Additional System Disk.

For more information, see Option-Choices-available-when-extending-service-blueprints. - Specify the details for configuring an option choice for the Add Disk option.

To create an option choice for Add Software Packages
Define the option choice for Add Software Pacakges option at Blueprint Configuration > Service Definition > Component > Software Packages.
For more information, see Option-Choices-available-when-extending-service-blueprints.
- In the Component Identifier area, enter the Name of a component in the service blueprint, or select a Tag that identifies the component.

For example, select Components > All Components to place the software on all components.
If a service blueprint includes multiple components, you must identify the particular instance. You can identify the particular instance by Name or by indicating a tag group or tag that is matched to a tag in the service blueprint. - Select one software package from the list (consisting of BMC Server Automation packages).
For complete details, see "To configure optional software packages" in Configuring-end-user-Option-Choices-in-service-blueprints.
