Monitoring cloud services

My Cloud Services Console provides information that helps you monitor your cloud services and resources. The type of information you see is dependent upon the tab you select, My Services or Activities, and the type of service or resource you select, Services, Servers, Storage, or Platform.

This topic contains the following sections:

My Services tab

The My Services tab displays the status of your provisioned and requested service instances, servers, and storage as explained in the following sections.

The Services link bar of the My Services tab displays a list of your provisioned and requested service instances. At a glance you can see the runtime status, decommission date, and associated servers of any service in the list.

If service monitoring is enabled for the selected service, you can also view detailed service monitoring information for a service by clicking the Charts icon charts_icon.bmp and Policies icon policies_icon.bmp. See Monitoring-services-with-charts and Creating-service-monitoring-policies for more information.

When you highlight a service instance from the list, the Details pane on the right side of the window displays information about that service instance:

The information displayed depends on the status and type of service that you highlight, but typical information can include:

  • The name, description, and type of service.
  • Commission and decommission dates.
  • Any service requests related to the service instance. (If a service request exists, clicking the associated link displays request details.)
  • The provisioning status of the service request, such as approval pending, in progress, or completed. (Clicking the associated link displays the Activities tab for the service request.)
  • Cost of the service.
  • The service components that comprise the service and the status of each (which can differ from their functional status displayed in the service instances list). In the Service Component Information section you can also click buttons to open policies and charts for the service, as shown in the following image:

The pane below the service instances list shows associated servers for the highlighted service instance. Clicking the details icon takes you to the Servers link bar, explained in the next section. Similarly, when you double-click a service instance in the list, you drill down to the server level, explained in the next section.

When you highlight a server in the list, you can see information for that server, such as the amount of memory, decommission date, and what software is deployed, among other details. Click the View Service Health Charts icon charts_icon.bmpto view charts that enable you to monitor the health of the server. See Monitoring-services-with-charts for more information.

The Storage link bar of the My Services tab displays a list and the status of block device and file system storage that supports your provisioned service instances.

When you highlight storage in the list, you can see details such as the capacity and price for the storage.

The PaaS link bar of the My Services tab shows an aggregate view of all provisioned database resources. In the list at left, each item represents a database. If you expand the item, you see all instances for that database. See Managing-PaaS-resources for more information.
