Managing tenant quota for the OpenStack Provider
To prevent system capacities from being exhausted without notification, you can set up quotas. Quotas are operational limits. For example, the number of gigabytes allowed for each tenant can be controlled so that cloud resources are optimized. In OpenStack, quotas can be enforced at both the tenant (or project) and the tenant-user level. Using the OpenStack Dashboard, you can view default Compute and Block Storage quotas for new tenants, as well as update quotas for existing tenants.
In BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, you must map your OpenStack tenant (or project) as Logical Data Centers for the OpenStack Provider. You must add the OpenStack tenant-user account details in the OpenStack Provider. See Managing-multiple-OpenStack-accounts for details about adding an OpenStack user account.
The following topic describes how to manage the tenant quota for the OpenStack Provider.
Before you begin
You must define the tenant in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management and define the resource limits as tenant quota. See Creating-and-importing-tenants for details.
To set up the tenant and user quota
In BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, you can determine the ability to allocate and monitor resources to the tenants or users. By default, unlimited quota is allocated to the tenants and maximum quota for the users.
- To allocate resources to the tenants by using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management - Tenant Management workspace, see Setting-tenant-quota for details.
- To allocate resources to the users by using the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management - Tenant Management workspace, see Setting-user-quota for details.
To view the tenant and user quota
After you have allocated the resources for your tenant, you can view the tenant and user quota details.
- Click the Tenants tab and select the tenant to view the resource consumption by the tenant, as shown in the figure below:
- Click the Users tab and select the user to view the resource consumption by the tenant user, as shown in the figure below:
- As an end-user, you can click the
