Requesting VDI Orchestration ZipKit service

The VDI Orchestration ZipKit allows you to perform the following tasks:

Request virtual desktops

As an end user you can request the following virtual desktop types using the VDI Orchestration ZipKit:

When a desktop is requested it might be a pre-approved request (See Creating pre-approved virtual desktop requests) or the request might require an approval (See Creating virtual desktop requests requiring approval).

Managers must approve desktop requests entered by end users.

Pooled-Random

Pooled-random machines are arbitrarily assigned to users at each logon and returned to the pool when they log off. Machines returned to the pool are available for other users to connect to.

Pooled-Static

Users are assigned a specific machine from the pool when they first log on to XenDesktop. Users are connected to the same machines for all subsequent sessions. This allows users of pooled-static machines to be associated with specific VMs, which is a licensing requirement for some applications.

Dedicated

Dedicated machines are created with a single image, but will maintain any user customization of their machine. Use dedicated machine where the flexibility of use driven machine customization is needed to lower storage costs compared to individual dedicated VMs.

Existing

The existing machine type enables you to use desktops that are created outside the Xen Desktop to be managed as a Catalog inside the desktop studio. Machines are permanently allocated.

Add or remove a user

You can also create requests for adding or removing a user from the provisioned machine. See Managing VDI Orchestration desktop access for details.

Managers must approve add-user requests entered by end users.
