Managing VDI Orchestration desktop access


This topic explains the process of adding or removing an user from the desktop or a desktop group.

Adding a user

You can add a user to a Desktop in a Desktop Group or to the Desktop Group itself.

For a pre-approved request

  1. Log on to BMC Remedy Action Request System (BMC Remedy AR System) by using your end user credentials.
  2. In the left side of the window, click the vertical Applications menu, and select Service Request Management > Request Entry.

  3. Click Browse. This displays the available Cloud Services requests.

  4. In the Cloud-Services bar, click Sub-Categories. This filters the Desktop as a Service requests and lists them in the Available Requests pane.

  5. In the Available Requests, select Add User Pre-approved.

  6. Click Request Now.

  7. Enter the following field details for adding a user:

    Field name

    Steps to enter values

    Desktop Type

    Click on the drop-down box, to select the applicable desktop type. Note: If you have selected the Desktop Type as Pooled-Static, Dedicated, or Existing, then select any one of the following options (add user to Desktop or Desktop Group):DskTyp-PolStac.png

    Desktop Group

    Based on the Desktop Type, select the Desktop Group from the displayed list.

    Expiry Date

    Click and select the expiry date of the user profile.

  8. Click Submit.
    This will add an user to the selected desktop or a desktop group.

For an approved request

In an approved request, the add user request is forwarded to the IT manager for approval.

You can add a user for the following desktop types for an approved request:

  • Add user for Pooled-Random type 
  • Add user for Dedicated type
  • Add user for Existing type

To add an user for an approved request:

  1. Log on to BMC Remedy Action Request System (BMC Remedy AR System) by using your end user credentials.
  2. In the left side of the window, click the vertical Applications menu, and select Service Request Management > Request Entry.

  3. Click Browse. This displays the available Cloud Services requests.

  4. In the Cloud-Services bar, click Sub-Categories. This filters the Desktop as a Service requests and list them in the Available Requests pane.

  5. In the Available Requests, click the request icon to add a user for any of the desktop types for which you want to request approval:

     

    Available Request Name

  6. Click Request Now.

  7. Enter the following field details for adding a user:

    Field Name

    Values

    Expiry Date

    Click and select the expiry date of the user profile.

    Add to Desktop or Desktop Group

    Select whether you want to add the user to Desktop or Desktop Group. Note: While adding a user for the Pooled-Random desktop type, you are not required to specify this.

  8. Click Submit.
    This will add an user to the selected desktop or a desktop group.

Removing a user

  1. Log on to BMC Remedy Action Request System (BMC Remedy AR System) by using your end user credentials.
  2. In the left side of the window, click the vertical Applications menu, and select Service Request Management > Request Entry.

  3. Click Browse. This displays the available Cloud Services requests.

  4. In the Cloud-Services bar, click Sub-Categories. This filters the Desktop as a Service requests and list them in the Available Requests pane.

  5. In the Available Requests, click Remove User.

  6. Select any of the following options:
    • True - This will remove the user details from all the Desktop and Desktop Groups.
    • False - Select the Desktop Group from which you want remove the user details.
  7. Click Submit.
    This will remove a user from the desktop or a desktop group.
