Configuring BMC Remedy AR System for the VDI Orchestration ZipKit
Use BMC Remedy AR System and BMC Remedy Developer Studio to perform the following postinstallation configurations.
Before you begin
- Ensure that BMC Remedy Developer Studio and BMC Remedy Action Request System version 8.0 or 8.1 are installed.
- Ensure that you have downloaded and extracted the VDIOrchestration_PostInstall_20.13.03.zip file from CLM-Prebuilt-Content, and have copied the Service Request Definition (SRD) and custom files to your BMC Remedy AR System computer.
- Ensure that you have created a user profile (for example, Demo) in BMC Remedy AR System with the AR Administrator role. In the user profile, select Asset Viewer & Request Catalog Manager for the Permission Group.
Configuring AR System Orchestrator
- Log on to BMC Remedy AR System, using the Demo credentials.
- Navigate to the Applications menu and click AR System Administration > AR System Administration Console. This displays the following screen:
- Click System > General > Orchestrator Configuration.
- Click New Request, as shown in the following screen:

After you have entered the required details, the window appears as shown in the following figure:
- Click Save.
This creates the orchestrator configuration for the VDI Orchestration ZipKit, as shown in the following figure:
Configuring filters, escalations, and custom data
- Log on to BMC Remedy Developer Studio using the Demo user credentials and connect to BMC Remedy AR System.
This displays the BMC Remedy Developer Studio home page with the AR System Navigator pane on the left, as shown in the following figure: - Configure the following items, using BMC Remedy Developer Studio:
Configuring SRDs for the VDI Orchestration ZipKit
To configure a Service Request Definition (SRD) for the VDI Orchestration ZipKit, import SRDs, make the SRDs available online, and configure the entitlement rule.
To import an SRD
- Log on to the BMC Service Request Management, using the Demo credentials.
- Navigate to the Applications menu and click Service Request Management > Import Export Console, as shown in the following figure:
- Click Import.
- Repeat the procedure to import the following files:
- Request Virtual Desktops.arx
- Add User Pre-approved.arx
- Add Desktop to Group with Approval.arx
- Add User with approval.arx
- Remove User.arx

To make an SRD available online
After you have imported the SRDs, you need to make them available online.
- In the Service Catalog Manager Console, shown in the following figure, search the SRD.
For types of searches that you can use, see Searching for SRDs. - Modify the following field details of the SRD:
- Set the Effective Dates and Times of the SRD:
- Enter the Start Date.
- Enter the End Date.
- Set the Request Catalog Manager details of the SRD:
- Select the Company name for which you are defining the service catalog.
- Select the Name of the manager responsible for administering the SRD.
- Set the Effective Dates and Times of the SRD:
- Change the SRD Status from Draft to Request for Approval.
- Repeat the procedure for all the imported SRDs.
To configure the entitlement rule
Use the appropriate procedure:
- Create an entitlement rule
- Disable an existing entitlement rule (which does not apply to the VDI Orchestration ZipKit):
- Log on to the BMC Service Request Management application with the Demo user credentials.
- Navigate to the BMC Service Request Management Entitlement Console.
- In the preceding figure, select an existing entitlement rule to be disabled and select the Disabled option.
- Click Close.
Configuring the approval process
Configure the approval process according to your organizational requirements.
Log on to BMC Remedy AR System using the Demo credentials and update the infrastructure and service request changes in the following forms.
Creating OS entries
Create the OS entries in BMC Remedy AR System so that users can select entries while creating a desktop request in the VDI Orchestration ZipKit. The user can specify OS details only while creating an approval-based desktop request.
- Log on to BMC Remedy AR System with Demo user credentials.
- Navigate to the Applications menu and click Administrator Console > Application Administration Console.
- Click Custom Configuration, as shown in the following figure:
- Click Service Request Management > Request Entry Management.
- Select Desktop as a Service - Operating System Details.
- Click Open.
This displays the Desktop as a Service Operating System Details screen, as shown in the following figure: - Enter the operating system name and details.
- Click Save.
Validating the configuration
Verify that the Citrix Catalog and Desktop Group relationship exists in the CitrixVDI:Catalog_Desktop_Group form.
- Log on to BMC Remedy AR System with the Demo user credentials.
- In the object list, type Citrix and select the CitrixVDI:Catalog_Desktop_Group form, as shown in the following figure:
- Click Search.
