Requesting an SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 service

SAP NetWeaver Process Integration (SAP PI) is Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software by SAP. This component of the NetWeaver product group facilitates the exchange of information between a company's internal software and systems and those of external parties. Before the current version, SAP PI was known as SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI). Like other NetWeaver components, SAP PI is compatible with software products of other companies.

SAP PI is an integration broker that mediates between entities with varying requirements in terms of connectivity, format, and protocols. According to SAP, SAP PI reduces the total cost ownership by providing a common repository for interfaces. The central component of SAP PI is the SAP Integration Server, which facilitates interaction between diverse operating systems and applications across internal and external networked computer systems.

Automated process of installing SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1

Several BMC Server Automation BLPackages work together to install SAP PI on a target virtual machine. The target virtual machine is provisioned by using BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. After your virtual machine is provisioned and customized, BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management triggers the application installation with the help of BMC Server Automation.

BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management:

  1. Creates the required file system on the underlying physical volume for application installation with the NSH script SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_FSC_v1.0.
  2. Copies the SAP media that is required for the installation from the Central Repository to the target virtual machine with the BLPackage SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_MEDIA_v1.0.
  3. Creates the required directories and runs a prerequisite check before installation on the SAP system with the BLPackage SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_PRC_v1.0.
  4. Creates the required users for installation with the BLPackage SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_UGRC_v1.0.
  5. Installs the Oracle database required for installation with the BLPackage SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_DBI_v1.0.
  6. Triggers installation of the software on the target system with the BLPackage SAP_PI71_NW71_DUAL_RHEL64_ORA11203_PII_v1.0.
