Registering the Savvis Provider instance

Before BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management can use a third-party resource provider, you must first register an instance of that resource provider.

When you register the Savvis Provider instance, you specify configuration values that enable the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Savvis provider instance to communicate with the external Savvis Cloud provider. Typically this configuration is a one-time task in the infrastructure configuration process.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have installed the Savvis Provider.

To register the Savvis Cloud as a provider

  1. From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Providers.
  2. On the Providers page, click Register   plus_button.gif.
  3. In the Register Provider dialog box, select GA_Savvis_Provider_Definition from the Provider Type list. 
     The corresponding registration fields are displayed.

  4. Supply the required inputs:
    The [confluence_table-plus] macro is a standalone macro and it cannot be used inline.

  5. Click Submit. 

    Warning

    Note

    To use the Savvis Provider, at least one account must be configured. For more information, see Managing-Savvis-user-accounts.

To deregister a Savvis provider instance

Warning

Note

You cannot deregister a provider if any objects or resources from that provider exist.

  1. From the list in the Providers workspace, select the Savvis Provider instance.
  2. Click Deregister   minus_button.gif.
  3. When the confirmation dialog box is displayed, click OK.

To edit a Savvis Provider instance

If you need to change some of the information that you supplied when you registered a resource provider instance during installation, you can edit the information.

  1. From the list in the Providers workspace select the Savvis Provider instance.
  2. Click Edit   edit.gif. The Edit Provider dialog box is displayed with the current information.

  3. Make your changes. 

    Warning

    Note

    You cannot change the Provider Type or Name.

  4. Click Submit.
     A note prompts you to restart the platform manager.
