Creating DML entries for Savvis


This topic describes how Definitive Media Library (DML) entries are created for the Savvis Provider.

Note

A DML entry that is auto-onboarded cannot be further edited by using the Product Catalog console.

To auto-onboard a DML entry

DML entries are auto-onboarded  based on the templates configured in the Savvis Provider.The synchronization frequency is determined based on the scheduler Frequency setting in the Runtime Schedule Configuration.

Note

New templates are onboarded with every synchronization. However, if templates are deleted in the Savvis Provider, this onboarding needs to be handled manually.

To change the frequency of synchronization perform the following steps to set or edit the Runtime Schedule Configuration:

  1. Logon to the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Grid Manager.
  2. Click the Manage tab, and click the Schedules tab.
     The schedules set for the grid are displayed:

  3. Click the Create Product Catalog Entry link.
     The page showing the scheduler details is displayed:

  4. Edit the scheduler details as required, and click OK to save the changes.

To create a DML entry manually

Perform the following steps to create a DML entry in the Product Catalog for use as an installable resource during blueprint creation.

  1. Log on to the mid tier with an account that has Foundation/DSL Master permission.
  2. Select Product Catalog > Product Catalog Console > general functions > new product / suite.
  3. Click Create and enter the following information:
    • Product Type: Software
    • CI Type: Virtual System Enabler
    • Categorization Tier1: Software Distribution
    • Categorization Tier2: VM Template
    • Categorization Tier3: Savvis
    • Product Name: Enter a product name. The following table lists the available product names and the corresponding operating systems. The operating system is required in step 3.

  4. Click Save.
     The newly created product is listed in the Product Category list.
  5. Select the product and go to the *Model/Versio*n tab.
  6. Click Create and enter the following information:
    • Product Model/Version State: Planned
    • Requires Contract: No
    • Status: Enabled 
    • Operating System: Select the operating system that corresponds to the Product Name entered in step 3.
