Updating metadata for the Cisco HCS Provider

You must set the basic infrastructure (metadata) for the Cisco HCS Provider to function correctly. The metadata includes specifying the chassis, cluster type, reserved core details for the compute resources and RAID group, and SAN details for the storage resources. This topic describes how to update the compute and storage resource details after you have onboarded them.

Warning

Note

For correct placement of VMs, provide the metadata for all onboarded resource entries.

To update the compute resource inventory

  1. Log on to the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Console, and click Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution > Compute Resource Inventory, as shown in the following figure:
    CHS_Home.png
  2. In the Compute Resources Inventory window, click Search, as shown in the following figure:
    CRI_Srch.png

This action displays the compute resource inventory details of the Cisco HCS Provider, as shown in the following figure:
    CRI_Mod.png
  3. Enter the following information for each compute resource:

    UI label

    Value

    Description

    Chassis

    Example: CH1

Specifies the chassis detail where the compute resource will be placed

    Cluster Type

    NOS or OS

Specifies the cluster type of the compute resource

    Reserved Core

    Default value: 0

Specified the number of core to be reserved for the compute resource during the placement

    Warning

    Note

The Virtual Cluster, Virtual Host, and Virtual Entity Manager details are already defined when you onboard the compute resource.

  4. Click Save.

This action sets the metadata for the compute resource placement for the Cisco HCS Provider.

To update the storage resource inventory

  1. Log on to the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Console, and click Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution > Storage Resource Inventory, as shown in the following figure:

  3. Enter the following information for each storage resource:

    UI label

    Value

    Description

    Raid Group

    Example: RG2

Specifies the RAID group detail where the storage resource will be placed

    SAN

    Example: SG2

Specifies the SAN detail of the storage resource

    Warning

    Note

The Data Store, Virtual Entity Manager, and Virtual Cluster details are already defined when you onboard the storage resource.

  4. Click Save.
This action sets the metadata for the storage resource placement for the Cisco HCS Provider.

To delete metadata entries

BMC recommends that you not delete the metadata entries (storage resource inventory or compute resource inventory entries) from the UI. Instead, offboard the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management resources. If you cannot avoid deleting metadata entries, use the following procedure.

Warning

Note

This procedure describes how to delete a storage resource inventory entry. To delete a compute resource inventory entry, use the same procedure but select the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution > Compute Resource Inventory option in the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Console.

  1. Log on to the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Console, and click Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution > Storage Resource Inventory, as shown in the following figure:
    CHS_Home.png
  2. In the Storage Resource Inventory window, click Search, as shown in the following figure:
    SRI_Srch.png

This action displays the storage resource inventory details of the Cisco HCS Provider, as shown in the following figure:
    SRI_Mod.png
  3. Click Delete.
This action deletes the metadata entry of the storage resource for the Cisco HCS Provider.
