Verifying BMC ProactiveNet Central Server installation
You can verify that the BMC ProactiveNet Central Server was installed successfully by using the following procedures.
To review the installation log
- If you just completed installing BMC ProactiveNet Central Server and the installer prompts you to view the installation log, click View Log and skip to step 3.
- If you exited the installer before viewing the log file, perform the following steps:
- Log on to the BMC ProactiveNet Central Server.
Open the installation and configuration log file, bppm_server_install_log.txt, which is located under the C:\windows\temp subdirectory on Windows and /tmp on Linux.
The following code illustrates an example of a SEVERE error message encountered in the installation log file.

- In the log, verify whether any error messages were reported.
If no error messages were reported, the installation was successful and you can skip the rest of the verification procedures for BMC ProactiveNet Central Server. - For all error, (including SEVERE) messages, perform the following procedures:
- If a SEVERE error message was reported, additionally perform the steps documented in the Resolving-a-Severe-error-message-in-the-installation-log topic.
To verify running services
To ensure that the product successfully starts after installation, perform the following steps.
- From the command prompt, run the pw system status command and verify that the following services are running:
- services
- httpd
- jserver
- pronet_agent
- pronet_cntl
- tunnelproxy
- rate
- dbsrv
- mcell
- acell
- If any of the services listed from the previous command appear to be not started, restart that service.
- If errors occur that prevent restarting a service, restart the system by executing the following command: pw system start.
To verify that the BMC ProactiveNet Patrol packages are created successfully
When you install the BMC PraoctiveNet Central Server, the installer creates BMC ProactiveNet Patrol packages in the BMC Server Automation Console. After the installation is completed, you must verify whether these packages were created successfully.
- Select Start > All Programs > BMC Software > Bladelogic Server Automation Suite > Server Automation Console 8.2.01.
- Log on with the user name BLAdmin and password <password>.
- Ensure that the BMC ProactiveNet Patrol packages & templates are created successfully, as shown in the following figures.
