Implementing a Terremark external resource provider

Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (Terremark), a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc., is a provider of information technology services, including managed hosting, collocation, disaster recovery, security, data storage and cloud computing services.

Terremark integration with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management enables you to leverage the compute, storage, and virtualization services of Terremark from the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console. Users can use BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management to provision infrastructure from Terremark.

This section describes how to customize BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management to manage the Terremark resources. To understand how BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management objects correspond to Terremark constructs, see Terremark-construct-mappings.

Before you begin

• To obtain the installation files for the Terremark resource provider, contact BMC Professional Services.

  • Ensure that you can access http://confluence.bmc.com:8080/display/BSMSOL/Terremark+Integration+Files. If you cannot access this BMC internal wiki page from a customer site, download the Terremark integration files beforehand.
• Understand the limitations of the Terremark resource provider.

Setting up the Terremark resource provider

Adding the Terremark resource provider is a process that consists of multiple procedures. The following list outlines the high-level steps to add the Terremark resource provider to BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management as a provider type:

1. Perform Terremark provider installation
2. Register the Terremark provider instance
3. Onboard Terremark Logical Data Centers

Cloud administrator tasks

The cloud administrator is an IT professional responsible for the full lifecycle of the cloud environment, including initial planning, deployment, and configuration, and continued administration, operation, and maintenance. Cloud end user tasks

Cloud end users rely on cloud resources to complete their work. Cloud end users request services, such as the deployment of virtual machines (VMs), through the BMC My Cloud Services Console.   Note

  You can specify the user name and password from BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management at the time of virtual machine provisioning.You should specify the password as per the password policy of virtual machine templates.   Note

  • When you decommission a Terremark Enterprise Cloud service, the associated nodes and internet services are automatically deleted from the Terremark Enterprise Cloud.
  • When you extend the life of a Terremark Enterprise Cloud service, a new decommission date is defined in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.
