Integrating with an existing deployment - Existing registry


If you have an existing PlannerProductRegistry.xml registry file, you can continue installing cloud features into your current BMC Remedy Service Support environment.

Note

You can use the Integrating with an existing deployment option to integrate BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management features with an earlier version of BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.

Before you begin

  • Read through the entire installation procedure to understand the features and capabilities of the installer.
  • Review the End-to-end installation flow for an overview of the installation process. This section describes prerequisites and dependencies, key concepts, tips, and so on.

Warning

To close the installer, do not click the Cancel button during product installation unless it is absolutely necessary (for example, the installer is not working and you have no choice but to start over). This action can result in data corruption in the installer registry.

  • As a prerequisite to use the Integrating with an existing deployment option, make sure that the products that you have already installed match the following minimum versions:

To integrate with an existing deployment - Existing registry

  1. Launch the installer.
     For more information, see Running the installer.
  2. Click Next in the lower right corner of the Welcome page.
  3. Review the license agreement and agree to its terms, and then click Next.
  4. On the Installation Prerequisites panel, review all the prerequisites that you must complete before you start the installation, and then click I have read the prerequisites. The Select Deployment Type page appears. 

    Note

    If you have not completed any of the prerequisites listed on the Installation Prerequisites panel, make sure that you exit the installer and complete the steps first.

  5. Select Integrate with an Existing Deployment, and then click Next.
  6. On the Integrate Disclaimer Information page, click I agree to the terms of the disclaimer.
     The BMC Installation Registry page appears.

    Deployment type

    Description

    I do not have a BMC Installation Registry

    No PlannerProductRegistry.xml registry file is available.
    This option adds BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 2.0.00 features into an existing installation of BMC products (including BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 1.x).

    I have a BMC Installation Registry

    Adds BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 2.0.00 features into an existing installation of BMC products (including BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 1.x). Use this option to continue installing cloud products without re-entering the data from a previous installation.

    Note

    In the next screen, you must specify the PlannerProductRegistry.xml registry file, which is a backup file of the BMC installation registry from your previous installation.

  7. Select I have a BMC Installation Registry, and then click Next.
     The BMC Installation Registry Location page appears.
  8. Click the Browse button to find the directory from your previous installation.
     The default location is C:\PlannerProductRegistry.xml.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Continue with the installation.
