Licensing portal settings

To license virtual guests, you must configure BMC BladeLogic Server Automation to interact with the Licensing Portal. In this way, all new VMs will have RSCD Agents that are fully licensed.

Licensing RSCD Agents is crucial to the successful provisioning of virtual machines with templates, so it is necessary that you enable the Licensing Portal. If BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management identifies a situation in which an RSCD Agent is not licensed, it can call the licensing workflow to add or re-add the license to the RSCD Agent on the newly provisioned virtual machine.

Use the BlasAdmin utility to define values for the following properties of the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation server, as shown in the following example:

DeregisterServiceURL:https://webapps.bmc.com/BMCBladelogicLicensingWS/services/BMCBladelogicLicenseService
LicenseServiceURL:http://www.bladelogic.com/services/LicensingWS?wsdl

MaxServersPerLicensePortalRequest:100

Note

You would specify a value for the ProxyHost property in the event the BMC BladeLogic Appserver uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. Otherwise, leave the ProxyHost property blank.

Enter your BMC BladeLogic Server Automation licensing user name and password as the ServiceUsername and ServicePassword. To obtain user licensing credentials, contact BMC Support.

When you finish defining the properties, restart the BMC BladeLogic Server Automation server.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
