Onboarding existing network configurations
If you have your networking infrastructure already set up and working before implementing BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, you can continue to use your existing network and use BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management to provision virtual machines. BMC BladeLogic Network Automation can use predefined port group names and pass them to BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.
Before you begin
Port group names in VMware and XEN must be named after VLAN IDs to ensure multitenancy.
To enable onboarding of existing network configurations
- On the Platform Manager (OSGi) server, edit the Providers.json configuration file and change the value of the portTypeName_as_vlanID attribute from “false” to “true."
- Restart the platform manager (OSGI container).
- Create a pod that uses a pod blueprint that specifically refers to existing port groups and VLANs.
- Create and import a network container blueprint that specifies no-ops at all levels.
- Create a network container that makes no changes to the network.
- Continue to set up resources, as described in Onboarding compute resources.
