Managing virtual firewalls


This feature allows cloud administrators to manage firewall rules for a virtual firewall by

  • adding or deleting firewall rules
  • editing a firewall rule to
    • enable or disable the firewall
    • allow or deny traffic
    • change the transport protocol

Before you begin

The network container must have at least one firewall.

To manage a virtual firewall from a network container

  1. From the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Resources.
  2. Under Quick Links on the left, click Network Containers under the Network section.
     The network containers are displayed.
  3. Select a network container.
  4. Click the Manage Virtual Firewalls icon FWicon.gif.
     The Manage Virtual Firewall rules dialog is displayed. The message, "There are no firewalls associated with this network container." is displayed if no firewalls exist in the selected network container.

  5. Continue as described in Using-the-Manage-Virtual-Firewalls-dialog-box.

To manage a virtual firewall from a service instance

To manage a virtual firewall from the Network Resources Overview in the BMC My Cloud Services Console

  1. From the Overview pane of the BMC My Cloud Services Console under Network Resources on the left, click the count number next to Virtual Firewalls.
     The Manage Virtual Firewall rules dialog is displayed.
  2. Select a network container.
  3. Click the Manage Virtual Firewalls icon FWicon.gif.
     The Manage Virtual Firewall rules dialog is displayed.
