Installing on HP-UX after mounting the installation DVD
Note
When you install applications directly from a DVD, HP-UX and Linux operating systems might have configuration issues. In some cases, the DVD mount might cause long file names from the DVD not to work. To work around this issue, configure the operating system to allow long file names to be read and copied.
If you attempt to install an application on HP-UX after mounting the installation DVD by using the mount
command, you receive an error message and the installation fails. Perform the following steps to mount the DVD by using Portable File System (PFS) instead.
To mount the installation DVD on HP-UX using PFS
- Enter the following commands to start the PFS daemons:
/usr/sbin/pfs_mountd & /usr/sbin/pfsd &
- Enter the following commands to create a directory and mount the DVD:
mkdir /dvdrom pfs_mount /dev/dsk/cXtXdX /dvdrom
