BMC PATROL Agent 9.5.00 is a part of BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers 4.7.00 or BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux 9.12.00.

BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers and BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux are packaged with the BMC Performance Manager for Servers 3.4.00 solution.

The solution is available for download from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at http://webapps.bmc.com/epd. To use the website, you must register and set up a user name and password.

To download the files

  1. Create a temporary directory to store, the downloaded files.

    Note

    Before downloading BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers, ensure that the directory is only one level below the directory structure on Windows computers. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Download the following files depending on the product that you want to install, and the platform on which you intend to use it:

  3. Extract the required files from the downloaded archives to temporary folders.

    The following table lists the files that you must extract to install BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers:

    Install the BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers components on Microsoft Windows operating systems.

    Install the BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux components on AIX and Solaris operating systems.

    Install the BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux components on HP and Linux operating systems.

    Install the KMs on BMC PATROL Console for UNIX.

    Install the KM Help files and icons on the BMC PATROL Console Server residing on HP and Linux operating systems, or the BMC PATROL Central Web Server if the BMC PATROL Central Operator console is a web console residing on HP and Linux operating systems.

    Import the BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux components into the Distribution Server residing on HP and Linux operating systems.

    Note

    You must install the product on the PATROL Console Server if the client is a BMC PATROL Central Operator – Microsoft Windows Edition.

    You must install the product on the BMC PATROL Central Operator – Web Edition if the client is Web Central Operator Console.

    You can extract the installation utility files first, and then the product files. By doing this, the bmc_products directory is created, and the files are extracted to this directory.

  4. Extract the installation utility to a temporary directory. This will create the bmc_products directory in the temporary directory.

  6. From the extracted files in step 3, unzip the following files to extract the contents into the bmc_products directory.

    For BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers:

    1. Windows: psx_ALL_4700.zip

    2. UNIX: psx_ALL_4700.tar


    For BMC PATROL for UNIX and Linux:

    1. For AIX and Solaris operating systems on UNIX:

      • Windows: puk_AIX_SOLARIS–WINDOWS–S390_91200.zip

      • UNIX: puk_AIX_SOLARIS–WINDOWS–S390_91200.tar

    2. For HP-UX and Linux operating systems on UNIX:

      • Windows: puk_HP–LINUX–WINDOWS–S390_91200.zip

      • UNIX: puk_HP–LINUX–WINDOWS–S390_91200.tar

  7. Before installing the product component, use the Release notes and notices section of each product to review the installation requirements and prerequisites.

Carefully review the system requirements for your platform and other tasks necessary for setting up the installation environment. You must perform these tasks before you launch the installation program.
