Replacement of remaining Adobe Flash capabilities in Remedy

Adobe has announced the end of development and distribution of Flash Player by the end of the year 2020. For more information, see https://theblog.adobe.com/adobe-flash-update/. BMC has taken proactive steps to manage the sunset of Adobe Flash Player. To use Remedy without Adobe Flash Player, BMC recommends that you use the alternatives provided in the following table:

ComponentAlternative currently availableReference
BMC CMDB

Starting with version 9.1.04 of Remedy, BMC has introduced a new CMDB user interface to replace the Flash-based Atrium Explorer user interface. BMC recommends that CMDB administrators and configuration managers use the new CMDB user interface as it already includes CMDB Explorer, searching
CIs, normalization, reconciliation, Configuration Manager Dashboard, and CMDB archiving. BMC intends to completely replace the Flash-based Atrium Explorer in upcoming releases.

Starting with version 19.02 of Remedy, HTML rendering is enabled by default for new flashboards. HTML rendering offers more secure flashboards display with an improved look and feel. If you choose to use HTML rendering, all your customized flashboards continue to work as before.

BMC Service Request Management

BMC recommends that you use Digital Workplace Advanced for service request management functions.

When you click the Process View tab, you can view the process steps and fulfillment applications of the service request. BMC recommends that you hide the Process View tab because the Process View uses Adobe Flash.

So Impact Model Design (IMD) and Atrium Integrator Job Migration is still Flash based with Patch1?

      Hello Christian,

Hope you received these responses from Thomas Hammer:

Hi Christian, Impact Model Designer I understand, but what do you mean by "Atrium Integrator Job Migration"? You are not talking about migration from AIE to AI, do you? If you really mean that kind of migration, to be honest, that should have been done many years before. And because this is so unlikely, I'm really not sure, what migration you are talking about. Please explain... Thank you in advance

Hi Christian, do you new this one: You can use the new Dynamic Service Modeling tool in the new CMDB UI to build and maintain service models of your business services, technical services, or application services.

You can find the details of Dynamic Service Model in this topic Creating service models in CMDB by using Dynamic Service Modeling which is part o CMDB documentation.

Thomas Hammer , Thanks for your responses!

Sorry I missed somehow your answer! No i didnt meant the migration from AIE to AI. I mean the capability in the atrium integrator flash console to export configuration. (The icon in the upper right) we use this to export AI jobs from a lower system to the production. (otherwise you have to manually copy files from system to system...)

As far as I know you cannot modify the impact direction and preferences of a relation in the new GUI.

What is the path forward for on-prem customers on older version of 9.1 but still supported? How are they supposed to access all this? Do need to upgrade whole stack or only Mid-Tier upgrade?

      Hello Shekhar Raj,

Request you to go through this set of documentation - Impact of Adobe Flash end-of-life on ITSM and replacement options. You can find version-wise separate topic for each of the Remedy release.

For those customers that may not apply BMC Remedy 20.02 Patch 2 at this time, and will not be using Flash; can you please again list the alternate steps to view Process Details for Approval Central and other components? If necessary, we want to point individuals to this page as necessary.

BACKGROUND: This page previously contained steps for users to select the Approver "table" instead of the "sequence diagram".

Simply, asking if you can please return those instructions to this page.
