Updates

Support for data encryption of databases

PATROL for IBM DB2 9.6.10.01 now supports monitoring of DB2 with DATA_ENCRYPT authentication mode. This feature provides support for monitoring DB2 systems with higher security levels than earlier.

Note

If the database is not configured for SERVER_ENCRYPT (DATA_ENCRYPT) authentication mode, you can use any of the two methods to connect to the configured environments and databases:

  • Update the value of the SecurityMechanism property under Patrol3/pso/conf/pso.properties. This value gets applied to all of the configured environments and databases in the PATROL Agent.
  • Use the pconfig variable securityMechanism to connect to a configured environment or an instance.

Enhanced local HADR monitoring

When you monitor an HADR system, both the local and the remote systems get discovered. To monitor only the local HADR system, use the new pconfig variable disableRemoteHadrDBMonitoring. Set this pconfig variable to 1 (true), you can exclude the remote HADR database and monitor only the local HADR system. For more information, see Agent configuration variables.

Customize alarms and warnings for ConnToDBOK parameter

PATROL for IBM DB2 9.6.10.01 allows you to include or exclude alarms and warnings manually for ConnToDBOK parameter by using the following pconfig variables:

  • warnList
  • excludeAlarmList

For more information, see Agent configuration variables.

Support for enabling or disabling monitoring of parameters

PATROL for IBM DB2 9.6.10.01 allows you to disable monitoring of parameters by using Event Management KM. The KM support this capability without the need to add specific KM level rulesets, while allowing you to use the existing PATROL techniques for disabling parameters from monitoring.
Use the following pconfig variable to disable parameters:
/AS/EVENTSPRING/PARAM_SETTINGS/THRESHOLDS/<<App class name>>/__ANYINST__/<<patrol parameter name>> = 0 or 1.

  • 1 - Collects data of the specified parameter.
  • 0 - Does not collect data of the specified parameter.

Note

The enabling or disabling of parameters is applicable for PATROL console only.
