Licensing requirements

Before installing the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management solution, you must obtain the appropriate licenses:

Note

BMC recommends that you obtain BMC Support credentials and original licenses before you begin the installation. You can also use temporary or trial licenses for the installation.

BMC Remedy AR System server licenses

Obtain BMC Remedy Action Request System server (AR System server) licenses for the following products:

  • BMC AR Remedy System & IT Service Management Suite
  • BMC Remedy AR System – Cloud Database
  • For a high-availability (HA) installation, you also need to obtain the license keys for the following hosts:
    • BMC AR System Server & IT Service Management Suite — Secondary
    • BMC AR System — Cloud Database Secondary

To obtain permanent AR System server licenses for enterprise AR System server and cloud AR System server, send host IDs to BMC Customer Support and request the corresponding AR System server license. Use the following procedures to obtain the host IDs.

Note

The host ID is the physical address for Microsoft Windows and the MAC address (HWaddr) for Linux operating systems.

For additional information about licenses, see the License overview topic in the BMC Remedy AR System online technical documentation.

To obtain host IDs for Windows platforms

  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Run the following command:
    ipconfig /all
  3. Record the physical address.
    For example:

    Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-50-56-AC-02-42
  4. Remove all the hyphens from the value (for example, 005056AC0242).

To obtain host IDs for Linux platforms

For Linux platforms, you must obtain the MAC address and convert it to lower case.

  1. Open a terminal.
  2. Run the following command:
    ifconfig
  3. Record the hardware address (HWaddr).
    For example:

    HWaddr 00:50:56:AC:04:10
  4. Remove all the colons from the value and convert uppercase letters to lowercase (for example, 005056ac0410).
