To install BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host from a standalone installation

Note

The installation windows might vary, depending on your system's configuration and the choices that you make during installation.

  1. Run the BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host installation program.
    1. On the BMC ProactiveNet Server computer, start the BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host installation program:
      1. In the System Properties dialog box, turn on Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for BPPMserverBuildFolder\DCH\Disk1\InstData\VM\setup.exe.
      2. From the installation DVD, run the setup.cmd file from the BPPMserverBuildFolder\DCH\Disk1 folder.
    2. In the Welcome window, click Next.
    3. In the License Agreement window, read the agreement, and select I agree to the terms of the license agreement. Click Next.
    4. In the Directory Selection window, edit, type, or browse to a directory on the BMC ProactiveNet Server to install files for the BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host.
       The default path is C:\Program Files\BMC Software\DataCollectionHost.
  2. Configure the BMC ProactiveNet Server connection to the BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host.
     In the Data Collection Host Connection window, type the following information and click Next:
    • BMC ProactiveNet Server: Name or IP address of the BMC ProactiveNet Server computer
    • Data Collection Host: Name or IP address of the computer targeted for BMC ProactiveNet Data Collection Host
  3. Configure BMC BladeLogic initialization.
    1. In the BMC BladeLogic Initialization Options window, select the relevant options and click Next:
      • If you have not yet loaded the BMC BladeLogic packages, select Load BMC BladeLogic monitoring infrastructure packages.
         The monitoring infrastructure packages need to be loaded only once per BMC BladeLogic Application Server.
      • If you did not set BMC BladeLogic connection information when you installed BMC ProactiveNet Server, select Change and validate BMC BladeLogic connection information.
    2. If you selected Change and validate BMC BladeLogic connection information, enter the BMC BladeLogic connection information and click Next.
  4. Set up the BMC ProactiveNet Agent installation and configuration.
    1. In the Remote ProactiveNet Agent Installation window, if a remote BMC ProactiveNet Agent cannot be found on the data collection host computer, select one of the following options and click Next:
      • Install remote BMC ProactiveNet Agent (recommended)
      • Use local BMC ProactiveNet Agent (for Proof of Concept deployment only)
    2. In the BMC ProactiveNet Agent and Integration Service Information window, confirm or update the following values:

  5. Configure the BMC PATROL Agents and virtual machine monitors.

  6. Review the installation details in the Installation Preview page and click Previous to modify options, or click Install to begin the installation.
