Performing Atrium Integrator server upgrade

You must upgrade the Atrium Integrator server before you install BMC Remedy ITSM or BMC Service Request Management.

In this section

Before you begin

If you have not already done so, perform the tasks in Preparing for the BMC Atrium Core upgrade.

If you have not done so already, prepare the system to run the installers. If you want to run in nonadmin mode on Windows, see Preparing a Windows environment. If you want to run in nonroot mode on UNIX, see Preparing a UNIX environment.

To upgrade the Atrium Integrator server

  1. If you have not already done so, download the Atrium Integrator server installer, or navigate to the installation directory on the DVD.
  2. Navigate to the Disk 1 folder.
  3. Start the installer.
    • (For Windows) Run setup.exe.

    • (For UNIX) Run setup.bin.

  5. Review the license agreement, click I agree to the terms of license agreement, and then click Next.
  6. On the Directory Selection panel, navigate to the directory in which you want to install the Atrium Integrator server. The default locations are
    • For Windows: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AtriumIntegrator

  7. Click Next.
  8. On the BMC Remedy AR System User Inputs panel, perform the following actions:

  10. Enter the JRE home, and then click Next.
The installer validates your input, and then the Installation Preview panel appears, listing the product and product features that will be installed. You are nearly finished with the Atrium Integrator installation.

You can view a log file of the installation:
    • Windows: C:\Users_<installUser>_\AppData\Local\Temp\atriumintegrator_install_log.txt
    • UNIX and Linux: /tmp/atriumintegrator_install_log.txt
  13. Close the log when you finish.
  14. Click Done to exit the BMC Atrium Core installer.

After upgrading platform components on the primary server

During the zero down-time upgrade from 9.1.04 to 18.05.00 or later versions, Atrium Integrator operations are not available. After upgrading all the servers in a server group, Atrium Integrator operations are available.

If you try to access Manage Atrium Integrator on the non-upgraded servers by using http://<<base URL>>/cmdb/index.html#/imports, the following error message is displayed:

BMC Atrium Integrator's version is not supported with the current CMDB version

However, when you upgrade Remedy from 18.05.00 to later versions, the above issue does not occur.

After upgrading the last Atrium Integrator server in a server group

If you are upgrading the Remedy platform components in a server group, the installer triggers the post installation tasks after successfully upgrading all the secondary servers. However, no message is displayed indicating all the secondary servers are upgraded or the post install tasks are triggered.

  • To view the upgrade status of a server group, go to AR System Administration > Server Information form, Platform tab. The Server Group Upgrade Status field displays the status Done if all the servers of a server group are upgraded successfully.
  • To verify if the post upgrade activities are triggered, check the arerror.log located at <InstallDirectory>\BMC Software\ARSystem\Arserver\Db.
